Faustino Mellerson: I'm confused as to what exactly the intention is behind this project - are you the designer, and your making a 'target' that you can design to?Or are you one of the managers of a project to make a new cultural and performance arts space?Project objective;[What the building will achieve by being built, like more people coming together or revenue]Have you looked at similar projects and what their objectives are? In my experience most grant programs (I don't know where your based but in the UK it's the Arts Council), they have criteria that applicants need to meet - they ask questions like 'How do you intend for your project to encourage inclusion in the arts from the local community?'You can see all their aims in their guidance notes here;http://www.artscouncil.org.uk/downloads/guidanceno...Design Objectives[What the building is meant for]Who is the design for? Young people? Parents? Children? Ethnic or political groups? Young people (18+) will not appre! ciate art, projects and theater thats aimed at children. Only children will like this, but you will get parents going as well (increasing demand).Design Criteria[What must be in the design - how many rooms, what the rooms are]I would specify that modern and neoclassical contemporary design needs to be a feature here, not an objective. You need to consider the place that the project will be 'made'. Is there ample space for an innovative design, or are there constraints to the design - are there buildings next to the area? Is it a residential area? An industrial area? A built up area (high density)? Are there specific design features that the building needs to incorporate - is there a theater? how many are there? Is it meant for art workshops (these can be material based like painting or movement based like dance and performance art). Are there other art vehicles that will be displayed? Visual arts, gallery works, audio and video.I hope these questions give you a guide to what ! I think your needing - I don't feel I can really answer any of! the questions as there's too little information about what the intention of the project is.I hope this helps!Pelena...Show more
