Can something like "Spider Man" really be considered a "comic" book?

Lavelle Viveiros: your avatar makes you look like a pretentious douche.your question makes you sound like a pretentious douche. You are a pretentious douche.

Freddy Shutler: As I hope you know Spider Man was a comic book before a movie. Correct when comic books were originally introduced to the US, they were considered humorous books. Since then the definition of comic has evolved into a modern book that tell stories of various genres. To me, comic book describes the layout of the book. They all have individual panes and it's artwork in each pane that ultimately conclude the story.

Tana Dumoulin: Technically, but the word comic originated from comic strips and stand up comics, but was adopted to comic books and the whole genre grew into just superhero stories that are not necessarily funny.
