Sammy Hatzenbihler: celeron d is a slow processor. i would look into what processor chips are compatible with your motherboard. if it will take a pentium 4 your speed would jump by leaps and bounds and it is relatively easy to unplug and plug in the new one but the board has to be compatible. if not then more ram i guess
Coleman Petropoulos: Thanks Pavel. Well, it's a 512mb as it is an old model but also because I got it when I was younger and naive about computer specs and what not. How much will it normally cost to add more ram? I would say I'd go with the 1.5GB.Also, what's the imprtance of gigahertz? I see 2.4Gz for like an Apple Comp or something.
Christopher Calcano: Get a good anti-spyware and a system mechanic...And regularly clean-up and defragment your disc. This will make the computer much faster
Eulah Hugill: Hello Jay,The question you asked is too general, I can give you million answers to it but it all depends on your hardware. The piece of ! information you gave us is your processor and it doesn't contribute to our knowledge.Look at your RAM, look at your HDD density: If you computer is getting slower and slower then it is highly recommended that you add some memory (i.e. if you RAM is 512MB or less it is recommended that you upgrade it to at least 1.5GB).If you RAM and HDD are big enough (i.e. RAM is 2GB and HDD is 250GB) and your computer is still slow, run some virus detection and send your computer to the technician if it doesn't change a thing. In most cases, you'll need to buy a new computer if after all this it is still slow.Have a nice day,Pavel...Show more
Lawanna Livsey: the speed of a processor is measured in Ghz. or gigahertz. the more gigahertz the faster the processer.....ususally. if you have a 2.0 ghz quad core, it will more than likely be faster than a 2.7ghz single core or dual core. i would reccomend adding ram. i would research wether your computer takes DDR2 or just plain old DDR memor! y. if it is just plain DDR memory, then it is probably time fo! r a new machine :Dbut for now i wuld upgrade the ram and look into a processor. but before you defragment the disk make sure you back up your info just in case, kuz sometimes it messes up and stuff gets corrupted.... and thats bad news....Show more
Mark Hovanes: bigger ram space is what you need
