Moises Rupinski: Speaking from experience, both elementary school positions and social studies positions experience a glut of candidates. Part of it is the economy right now, but even when teachers are being hired consistently, the competition is fierce. In addition, schools frequently pair social studies with language arts (at least at the middle school level).I finished my undergraduate work with a degree in social studies/secondary education. I'm in the process of finishing graduate school now, where I'm adding the ECE/ELEM authorizations and some additional endorsements. I say go with ECE/ELEM now, because when you go back for your Master's degree, you can add on. With the early childhood portion, you can work in more places than just upper elementary, including preschools and daycares. Also, you know that you tend to do better with the younger set. Go ECE/ELEM first, and I wish you the best of luck in the job market when you finish school!...Show more
